The Hoeferle Family // Portraits // Cleveland, TN
Oh good!
I’m glad to be posting this blog because it gives me an opportunity to share some words (and photos, of course) of people who are especially dear to me.
You know the kind of people that you have no blood relation to, but you consider them family?
Yeah, that’s what the Hoeferle’s are to me.
They have opened up their home to me. They have fed me (countless&delicious meals). They have encouraged me. They have consoled me. They have been role models and friends. They ave invested in me. They have been family to me.
As far as photographing what you love goes…I love this family and feel particularly passionate about photographing them. Photographing people, in general, is where my heart is…and this family all the more so!
Anyways, all this sentimental stuff is getting boring. You can tell from the pictures that this family is wild, joyful, and people anyone would want to be around. Their smiles are as big as city buildings.
& as far as location for this shoot…this is the side of an abandoned bank downtown Cleveland. The old window reflects another old building perfectly! And the arrow pointing down was kind of too good to be true. I dig finding graphic elements in backgrounds.
But seriously, jumping photos are my favourite (newsflash…)

A test shot that I love:
DING DING!! Family of MODELS!:

This is Lilli and she is an absolute babe!
Yep, this actually happened….not even my idea!
Alright, let’s talk about this photo for a second. I LOVE it. And I want to try and explain why…
It’s a candid. A snapshot. Christian is taking Ana down from his shoulders (Ana wants to stay up there), Brigitta is waiting for Ana to come down and expressing her impatience with airplane arms (which I love), and Amelie is just sort of hanging out, looking off to the side. No one is paying attention to the camera. I love the way all of them are facing. Really I love Brigitta’s expression. And Amelie’s. And everything! It’s real. And I want to print it and hang it up big somewhere on a prominent wall.
Did you pick up on all the laughing that happened during this photoshoot? These pictures have SOUND (to me).
Golly day…LOVE these people.

WOW!!!!!!!
You’ve done it again – you’ve captured everything!
I am proud to say that you are part of our family!!
Love you sooooo much!
Brigitta

[...] Ralfie moved back to Germany, I kept hanging out with his extended family here in Cleveland: the Hoeferle‘s. (who are, BY FAR, some of the greatest people I have the pleasure of calling my friends). [...]
