Photos to hang//in the works
So, like anyone who lives inside of a house/apartment, I have walls. And the walls in my house are predominantly bare. I like the simple, clean look…and I also don’t want to lose my security deposit by knicking up all my walls. But I figure hanging some photos on string/wire across my living room wall will be a neat looking thing. So today I went through some of my hard-drives and pulled images to get printed for hanging.
And, since they are some of my more sentimental/preferred images, I thought I would share them. They span back with some photos (like the first one you’ll see) from my time at Hallmark.
My friend Heather flew up to MA to model for me:
Jimmy Eat World, otherwise known as Peter Chilton, modeled for me (one of my favourite instructors):
And so did Gabriel Freedom, my big bearded instructor:
Andy Bardon, whose appreciation for life and beauty inspires me. If only he could grow a moustache like this!
I met a wonderful lady at a bar in Rhode Island, discovered we had a mutual friend, and photographed her in the back alley of the bar the next time I was in town.
I like to give nicknames. They just come out of nowhere. This is Josh Lovell, nickname: Jelly Lelly. We were back in TN for spring break and I was trying to wake him up for breakfast. I was sitting on him, poking his face, and talking. Five minutes later, he turns his head and says “Jelly Lazy” and then passes back out. That’s it! And that is the story this photo represents.
The windows in my old apartment were a sigh to behold.

Spraying bottles with karo syrup, allowing it to harden, and photographing it…mmm!
Flying to Washington state to photograph weddings, and staying for another week or two just to hang out…that’s happened twice now.

Having a brother as a best friend is a great thing.
Will: a friend I deeply love. Trustworthy, reliable, generous, and funny.
One time I moved the entire living room around and put the couch on top of a mattress with a fake floor under it, to give it the kind of height I needed. My room-mate walked in and said “this immediately stresses me out.” SUCH WONDERFUL TIMES!

For some of the studio shots with starry eyes, I had the models sitting on a huge metal beer keg that one of my room-mates left in out 4000sq ft apartment. I couldn’t find a stool that was high enough, so I just covered the beer keg with a blanket.

When I first moved into the house I live in now, this was all I had.
The Germans, who are my family:
Proud to call this woman my friend!
This photograph is…I love this photograph. The gesture of his hand and fingers gets me.
This is a house I lived in for a year. Gorgeous!
I went through John Donne’s poems, picked out words and phrases, and re-wrote a little piece. Then I painted it on a wall in my apartment. This is what a little piece of it looks like. (John Donne: I like you!)

Going through old photos is wild for me. I can’t believe how unorganized my hard-drives are from 5 years ago!! (tisk tisk to myself). I’m living a good life, and it’s enjoyable to go back and look through old photos.
While looking through photos, I was struck! This is what the photos made me think “THIS HAPPENED.” Living in the present, planning the future…it’s easy to forget what I’ve already done. Looking through my photos from when I lived in MA it was like “Wow. I actually lived in a New England castle/mansion for a year, stayed up late&woke up early every day, learned how to use strobes, took so many photos, played around with SO MANY concepts, made friends with the greatest instructors in the world, learned how to photograph glass and reflective metal, had friends from TN fly up so I could photograph them…dang!
And then with other photos it was like “Oh my GOSH. I flew to Washington state (multiple times) to photograph a wedding(s) and was able to book it so I had free time up there to hang out with old friends. Rafting down the river on inflatable animal-shaped tubes, cook-outs, hot tubs, coffee, cooking and staying in…
All that to say: photography is neat.
MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmhhmmm! LOVE photography! Can’t wait to get some photos on my walls!

you are so good at what you do.
